Krepelin’s sustainable tourism certification is proceeding:
On April 22, 2021 was an exciting day: we submitted a membership application to ECEAT Finland. We chose ECEAT as our quality system because it was comprehensive and did not focus on just one area (ie it sets criteria for service production, water and nature conservation, energy saving, waste minimization, and cultural heritage conservation as well as economic aspects).
On May 20, 2021, ours, as well as the of another local accommodation, Eleonora Bed & Breakfast membership were accepted! This shows that our sustainability is also verifiable by outsiders.
On June 10, 2021, we received an ECEAT Finland certificate by e-mail. The paper version is on display at the reception. The actual ECEAT Finland audit will then take place late summer of 2021. We’re looking forward to what comments the auditor has about the measures we’ve taken and planned in our development plan.
On 13 June 2021, we submitted an application for Visit Finland’s sustainable tourism label and on 22 June 2021 we finally got the right to use it: “Kiinteistö Oy Krepelin meets all the criteria set for the Sustainable Travel Finland label, and you have working towards sustainable tourism. ” The label will be valid for us until May 30, 2022, by which time we will have to do development and upgrade work. But that’s what this sustainability work is: continuous improvement for years to come. With the brand, we can now be found on Visit Finland’s Sustainable travel destinations page. 1.9.2021 ECEAT Finland audited us, proposed some corrective actions which we fixed by October 2021.
26.3.2022 ECEAT Finland renewed our certificate. Picture below.
13.4.2022 Visit Finland renewed our right to use the STF label:
“Kiinteistö Oy Krepelin [once again] meets all the criteria for the Sustainable Travel Finland label, and you have been awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland label for your valuable and persistent work for sustainable tourism. Your label is now valid according to your certificate + 2 months, i.e. until 31.5.2024.
You are doing a great job with sustainability! Special thanks for the very detailed and clear action plan. We encourage you to continue to invest in sustainability communication so that customers hear about all the great work you are doing to promote sustainability.”
