A walk around the town with a character from the past
Step back into the past
On the guided historical tour, Harri, the other owner of Krepelin, takes you around the Kristiinankaupunki landmarks and tells about the birth of the town in 1649 to the recent developments.
You’ll hear why the town was set up just here, why the tower of the Ulrika Eleonora church leans westwards and why the famous alley is called “The Cat Whipper’s”, among other things.
Price 25 EUR / person incl. VAT. Duration max 1,5 hours. Can be paid with cash or with credit card at the Krepelin reception at the start of the tour.
PS. Harri can also accompany you in the Lebell Merchant House, where you’ll see how a wealthy merchant family lived in the 18th century in Kristiinankaupunki. When possible, the visit can be arranged also outside their official opening hours (June-August mon-fri 11-17, sat-sun 11-14). Entry to Lebell: 5 EUR / person.

When booking, also tell which character Harri should guide you as:
- Erik Holmström, born in 1741, who had the Krepelin main building built in 1812, and who’ll appear in his 1810s Regency uniform inspired by the Napoleonic fashion
- Josef Lebell, a local bookkeeper from the 1780s in his brown silk suit and wig typical to the French court at the time
- Or perhaps you’d want to have Hans Ståhlbom guide you, the town’s first mayor from 1649, in his Dutch protestant black doublet with white lace-edged collars
